How it works
Your order form is hosted on our secure server, which you link to from your main web site. Each time an order is placed through your form, the full details of the order complete with product details, customer and credit card details are stored in a password protected area of our secure server for you to retrieve using your browser. The system also sends an email notification to you and your customer, the content of which can be defined by you.
You're in control
All your forms, confirmation pages and confirmation emails are customisable by you. This presents a highly professional image to your customers, as your branding and design is not restricted by our system. You have access to your secure space at all times to update your forms and settings whenever you wish.
What makes it secure?
Our servers use SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption. This is an industry-standard protocol to transfer information via the Internet securely. When SSL encryption is being used you will see the padlock symbol in your browser and the URL will begin HTTPS as opposed to HTTP. Our servers are running with the maximum level of SSL encryption that is commercially available, ie. 128 bit.
NOT JUST SSL...
There are a number of web hosting companies that offer "secure" SSL server space as add-ons to their web hosting packages. BEWARE! More often than not these only send out the submitted order details including credit card number by email, which totally defeats the point of having a secure form. This will be in breach of your merchant agreement with your bank, and could result in your merchant account being withdrawn.
Furthermore, SSL is only part of the story. SSL is only useful in encrypting the data whilst being transfered from browser to server. Your customer data also needs to be encrypted using different technology once on the server, and this is where most "secure" sites are vulnerable. We use secondary encryption for data stored on our servers, as well as dedicated firewalls to ensure that your data remains safe. So what might seem like a cheap SSL solution using your existing host is in fact likely to be a very insecure method of managing your customer data.
Free Form Builder - ShopForm
Free with all accounts is our unique ShopForm service, an online utility to build a custom order form. Add your products, shipping and tax calculations through a web-based wizard. The generated order form will calculate the customer's order for them! No programming is required on your part. However, you have access to the ShopForm page templates should you wish to customise them with your own graphics and layout. The templates are available as HTML pages which you can edit offline.
Online Card Processing
For the first time we have made available an online processing service that does not go via a PSP (Payment Service Provider). Instead we link straight into one of the UK's largest IP payment networks, known as "UPG" (Universal Payment Gateway). This network is at the root of online payments for all the major UK banks.
This payment network offers the following advantages :-
- Very low transaction fees - just pay for what you need
- Fast authorisation and processing times
- Extremely resilient network processing millions of transactions per month
- Links into all major UK banks - Barclays, Natwest Streamline, HSBC, Lloyds TSB, BoS, RBoS
- "Virtual terminal" to manually enter card payments, allowing you to ditch your PDQ machine!
- Refunds
- Pre-authorisation - ie. the ability to authorise the credit card, for final payment to be taken only when goods are shipped
- Multi-currency (requires separate merchant IDs from your bank for each currency; some banks do not support this feature)
